After hearing so much about Mad Men from friends and family, I finally decided to take the plunge and dive into the first season. Ten episodes later, I’m hooked. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers below. Mad Men, a term coined by the advertising execs on Madison Ave in the 60’s, is full of smoking, drinking, sex, inappropriate workplace behaviour, fashion and great story lines. Towards the end of pilot episode, the men are at a burlesque club. There is a scene where the burlesque dancer is disrobing. My jaw almost dropped to the floor. Not because she was taking off her dress, but rather because I am not used to seeing women with a little extra padding on television today. I loved it! Very Marilyn Monroe-esque! To my delight, I came across an article in the Toronto Star last week referencing Mad Men and an emerging trend in the fashion world. The Girls are Back in Town!!!! Cleavage is back! Haha…I don’t think I got the memo that it was ever out…but now the fashion world is embracing uptown curves! According to the article, fashion is celebrating fuller silhouettes and sexy curves! Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Calvin Klein are already on board!
